The location of this property is amazing, it is right next to Clifton Down station. The rent, at £410 per person per month, is very low considering it's centrality. However, the flat is an absolute shambles. It is mouldy, damp, cramped. It has a pound coin electricity meter which makes the cost of bills very inefficient. We had no hot water in the taps from August until December because DIGS were so slow to respond to any of our emails and calls. We had bedbug infestations twice because DIGS brought in second hand furniture and initially refused to pay for a full flat fumigation. They painted over the mould, which came back in under a month because the damp situation is so poor. Two of the back bedroom windows do not close fully, so the rooms are freezing. We had to arrange a Bristol Council investigation because DIGS were so slow to fix any of the faults. Their assessment proved the flat was insufficiently heated (all electric radiators) and insulated, hence the high cost of electricity. One of the bedrooms is not legally big enough to be a bedroom. Our fire alarms were not working for the first half of our tenancy. There is a leak in my bedroom ceiling that drips onto my bed - I cannot move my bed out the way because my bedroom is so small. DIGS only began to take us seriously when we threatened legal action against them. DO NOT LIVE IN THIS PROPERTY. Yes, the cheap rent looks appealing. But it has been the most stressful, damp, uncomfortable winter. We are all used to grotty accommodation but this is another level. Also, as a side note, I will avoid at all costs ever signing with DIGS again. They are lazy, uncaring, dishonest, exploitative sharks who will squeeze you for all you are worth and give nothing back.
