The actual property itself would probably get 3 stars from me. It is a beautiful flat with large bay windows and is quite spacious for two people. The location is AMAZING. Only minutes walk from both G Road and Whiteladies- also with great links to UWE. However, it has the original windows. Meaning it is impossible to heat and was absolutely freezing all winter. Our heating coat about £6 PER DAY. In addition, the bathroom is HORRENDOUS. It is absolutely riddled with mould, and the electric shower is comparable to a light drizzle of rain. Which, paired with a bathroom that peak in temperature at about 4 degrees centigrade, was unbearable. Throughout the winter I had to shower at my gym, just to avoid contracting pneumonia. The kitchen is also incredibly outdated, and flooded regularly. Lastly, the washing machine is RIDDLED with mould. Any clothes that were washed in there came out stinking horrendously. On the whole, I’m sure these are quite usual complaints for student properties and the flat itself could definitely have been a lot worse. On the other hand, our estate agents could not have been worse if they had tried. They were ridiculously rude and unprofessional. Whenever I would file complaints or maintenance issues they would be ignored or I would receive and incredibly rude message on their “maintenance reporting system” as to why they would not be resolving the issue. I can’t even count how many times they actually HUNG UP THE PHONE on me. I was repeatedly told they “didn’t want to talk to me” or the resolution of maintenance issues was “none of my business”. Any emails we did receive were in broken English and barely made sense. I am leaving in 2 months and have already contacted a property lawyer as I am anticipating huge problems with the return of my profit. All in all, despite being poorly kept, the flat is in a lovely location and is not bad for a student flat. Just, whatever you do, avoid renting with flatline!!!!!!
